Hair levels & tones achieve your dream shade & compliment your skin

Dreaming of a beautiful shade you wanted to achieve, only to find your outcome isn’t quite what you expected? well time to pay Attention because this article is going to educate you on 2 of the most important things in hair color: levels and tones. They Make or break your outcome! The “level” describes how light or dark the shade is, while “tone” is all about the    hue or tint your hair color gives off.

Let’s take a look at defining these furtherhttps://glamaras.com/product-category/hair-2/

HAIR LEVEL (OR DEPTH):
The level refers to the degree of lightness or darkness of a color. Within each color family, there are light, medium and dark levels. For example: light blonde, medium blonde and dark blonde. While every hair color brand has its own level numbering system, generally black is Level 1 and 2 and extra light blonde is level 10https://glamaras.com/book-now/

TONE:
Tone refers to the “finish” of a shade—its degree of warmth or coolness. Tones are categorized as warm, neutral or cool, and are usually part of the shade description (think terms like “gold” or “ash”). No matter what your level of color, you can choose from a variety of tones to help you achieve your color transformation.

• For example, a woman who prefers a cool, ashy blonde won’t be satisfied with a warm, golden blonde. Learn more about levels and tones to nail your look every time…

Most Common Tones – Explained:

ASH (COOL)
This is a color without red or gold highlights and tones. Some ashy cool tones can have a blue, green or violet undertone which will minimize gold or unwanted brassy tones in the hair. Also those who would like to lighten their natural dark hair to a lighter shade, will go for cool ash shades to cancel out the red/orange pigments that arise during the lightening process.

NEUTRAL
This color is the perfect balance with an equal amount of primary colors. Tip: In general, neutral tones tend to look great on everyone and completely cover gray.https://glamaras.com/product-category/bridal/

GOLD (WARM)
Color that adds golden highlights/tones to hair. When you see a warm shade in the sun, you will notice yellow or caramel tones.

RED (WARM)
This tone adds more reddish and auburn highlights to your hair, creating warmth to your overall look. Warmer hair tones can compliment warmer skin tones. If you have a little warmth to your skin, then warmer hair can provide a peachy glow and highlight blue, green, or hazel eyes. It can even make you look younger! If you have a cooler skin tone, red hair color will add warmth to your face and prevent a ‘washed out look’ that can happen when the lighter cool / ash tone is too similar to your skin. Just be sure to choose a cool red such as a shade that has the tone “burgundy” or “plum” in the description.

PRO TIP: Red shades come in the full spectrum of warm, neutral and cool tones! Auburn and reddish browns are warm. “True” and “Real” reds are neutral. Burgundy and plum reds are cool.In the image below, her skin has a light pinkish undertone, so her hair matches nicely with warm, coppery tones.https://glamaras.com/product-category/makeup/

Love a Shade that doesn’t match your skin tone? That’s ok! Here’s our hack for what to do.

If the tone of the hair color you want to try is not the same as your skin tone, then give it a try – just make sure you adjust your makeup to match.

• If you have cooler hair color and warmer skin → you can use a cooler toned (ivory) foundation + a more pink/violet tinted blush + a lip color with pink/violet undertones.

• If you have a warmer hair color and cooler skin → you can use a warmer toned (beige, yellow tinted) foundation + a more peach/orange tinted blush + orange/red undertones.https://glamaras.com/client-showcase/
